What is the best way to implement Environmental Education in teaching programmes ? Should this be done separately from or integrated in the curriculum ?

Answer: It depends. It also is a good approach to do projects, however, when you want to teach Environmental Education the best way is to work separately in the starting period and to integrate EE later on in the teaching programme.

Should Care for the Environment be integrated into the study of quality and working conditions ?

Answer: A general course of environmental issues should be separated from other aspects, but afterwards it is advised to treat them together in order to understand that sustainable development at work covers a wider range of aspects than the environment alone.

1.    How can  “Goals to be achieved” be defined and tested ? Should this be done separately at every relevant item, or generally ?     

Answer: In the beginning these “Goals to be achieved” can be described in a general way, however, not too general, because then it might not be clear what is meant. Then, depending on the level of the students, they can be described more ¨pragmatically.

1.     Are items of Care defined in terms of quality, working conditions and environment, or in terms of hygiene, safety, welfare, health, quality and environment ? 

Answer: The term “Sustainability”  covers it all.

1.    How detailed do you have to be when teaching environmental issues ?

Do you only have to discuss an issue from the perspective of an employee, or do you have to involve the employer, the society, posterity etc. ? 

Answer: As said before, in the beginning a broad outline should be given, however, as the level of teaching increases, the more extensive the teaching has to be.

1.    How can a green attitude and a green awareness best be developed in students ?

Answer: Though it will always be necessary to teach them theory and to impart knowledge to students, the emphasis should be put on practical exercises and participation.

1.     What pedagogical concept provides the best approach to dealing with this issue ?

Is it best to present theory to them, should working with case studies and awareness lists be advised or is a totally different approach conceivable ?                                                

Answer:  Of course, the best way is to approach head, heart and hands together ! (see: Best Way, Criteria)

1.    What are the best ways to implement these lessons, as developed in the scope of Environmental Education, into the existing educational programmes ?.

Answer:   Of course, to pay attention to Environmental Education issues in tentams and Exams and papers to be handed in.
