VEV,
ORGANISATION AND ACTIVITIES
VEV stands for the Dutch
National Institute for Vocational Education, Training and Qualification
in the field of electrical engineering. She is an organisation responsible for
the secondary vocational education and training in the electrotechnical branche
in The Netherlands.
The VEV Association was
founded in 1916 on the initiative of employers and employees.
VEV directs its activities at
Electrical Engineering, with the disciplines of Electrical Energy, Industrial
Automation, Communications Technology and Electronics.

Aim
The main aim of the VEV Association is the promotion and dissemination of knowledge and skills in electrical engineering and related fields of study and the persuance of trades within these specialist fields.

The VEV association has more than 500 members and a member council of 23 persons, a board of 7 and a board of directors of 3 persons. Members of the association are:

Telecommunications and Public Utilities Companies.
For organisational and
financial reasons the VEV Association has put a considerable part of its
activities into separate units. These are:
VEV employs about 230 people, of whom some 60 provide external advice, support and counselling services. There is a close co-operation with a large number of technical experts from education, and trade and industry, who work for VEV in such functions as part-time lecturer, technical writer, development engineer, examiner or assessor.
VEV is located in a modern building in Nijkerk, in the centre of The Netherlands. This building houses the offices, development departments, several training and conference rooms, the examination centre, the printing-office, the publishing department and the institute's restaurant.

VEV, your link between education and trade and industry
The Vereniging Elektrotechnisch Vakonderwijs (VEV) has taken up a leading position in the Netherlands in the electrotechnical branch for more than 80 years when it is about the promotion of craftsmanship and quality. It does this via the development and provision of vocational training programmes, courses, examinations and teaching materials.
As an authoritative training and
examination institute VEV spans a bridge between the theory and practice and
between vocational education and training and trade and industry.
In order to fulfil this role optimally VEV maintains continually contact with
the market. This interaction is fed by a complex network of consultants, who
assist employers, employees and educational institutes in word and deed
and form that way an essential link in any practice-oriented training programme.
Intensive interaction
Representatives of relevant employers' organizations and trade unions and educational institutes sit on boards and committees that, under the umbrella of VEV, are active and involved in the setting up of lines as regards content. Besides, representatives of trade and industry and teachers of schools are directly involved in the development of the qualification structure, training programmes, exercise books and examinations.

VEV translates relevant developments in an up-to-date and wide range of services and products. The most important are courses, teaching materials, indentures, accrediting of training companies, the support of both students and trainers.
From standard to tailor-made
VEV offers the choice from a wide standard range of courses and products. Also VEV develops courses ans products specially made for companies. Whatever way is chosen, a VEV diploma or certificate stands for an excellent qualification in any field of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telematics, Energy Technology, Control Engineering to courses in standards of the electrotechnical field.
An outlook, opening up new horizons
In these times of increasing internationalization fits an active attitude towards foreign countries by means of information, study visits and educational projects. With that the department VEV International fulfils in particular the role of inspirator of foreign educational reform. It assists, for example, in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in raising the electrotechnical vocational education and training as well as trade and industry to such levels, so that these countries will receive the link-up to Western Europe.
Quality as a standard
Naturally, VEV wants to offer quality. Within the ambitious quality programme important units such as VEV Cursussen bv and the departments Examinations and VEV International have already been ISO certified, other will follow. Besides, VEV seeks alliance with important international quality standards in order to provide Dutch electro professionals a good starting-point abroad.
